Transporting a team across Australia

WPS/WOW Racing’s spectacular transporter travelled approximately 50,000 kilometres during the 2007 season.

Team truck driver Warwick is the man in charge of the impressive rig, which transports the #8 WOW Racing Falcon and #10 WPS Racing Falcon across Australia to 12 of the 14 V8 Supercar Championship Series rounds as well as test and ride days.

For two events per season, New Zealand and Bahrain, the transporter is used to take the cars and equipment to Brisbane Airport, where cars and equipment are airfreighted on racks (cars) and in boxes (spares) by Gibson Freight to the event.

WPS/WOW Racing upgraded to a new A-trailer for the Bathurst event in 2007. The team has always run a B-double set-up – ie: two trailers towed by a prime mover.

The previous A-trailer had a full office and kitchen set-up within, a perfect base for the team’s engineering meetings and other discussions on race weekends.

However with more space needed for equipment transport for each round, the new A-trailer was acquired, with a comfortable temporary office set-up assembled in the trailer on race weekends.

In 2007 there were 15 B-double transporters in the main series paddock, 13 from teams as well as two from V8 Supercars Australia. Only four main series teams (PMM, TKR, GRM and RNR) run a single trailer set-up.
